Brushing Your Teeth: The Facts

Brushing your teeth is extremely important for the health of your gums, teeth, and even plays a role in the health of your whole body. While the practice is now quite common, would you be surprised to learn that there are a few things many of us could do better when it comes to brushing?

You probably know that you should brush your teeth twice a day. But did you also know that you should brush your teeth for two minutes every time you brush? You see, doing so will let you remove as much plaque and bacteria as possible. And remember to not brush too hard. Brushing too hard could damage your teeth and gums, as could using a brush with hard bristles.

It’s also important that you brush at the right time. You see, if you brush right after you eat, you could actually damage your teeth. You see, after you eat your enamel can be softened, especially if you have consumed anything acidic. You should wait for at least 30 minutes after you eat so that your enamel can harden again.

Please remember that brushing alone won’t be enough to keep your smile as clean and healthy as it should be. You should also floss at least once a day, and pay a visit to our dentist once every six months for a routine cleaning if you’re interested in keeping your teeth healthy and strong.
